2025 New Mexico High School Football: RB of the Year Voting & Candidates

The 2025 New Mexico high school football season is officially in the books, and today we open voting for one of the most competitive postseason honors, the NMPreps Running Back of the Year award. Fans across the state can now cast their votes to help decide which star ball-carrier stood above the rest.

Brock Wright – Carlsbad (2027)

A powerhouse for the Cavemen, Brock Wright carried the load all season long with 1,113 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns, helping push Carlsbad into the 6A quarterfinals. Dependable, physical, and built for late-season football.

Bryce Parra – Artesia (2026)

One of the most complete backs in New Mexico, Bryce Parra delivered 1,231 rushing yards, 17 rushing touchdowns, plus 412 receiving yards and 6 receiving touchdowns. A massive two-way threat who helped Artesia win the 5A state championship.

Cross Figg – Texico (2026)

In 2A football, nobody ran with more force and consistency than Cross Figg. The Wolverines star posted 1,668 yards and 19 touchdowns, powering Texico to the 2A state championship. A small-school legend in the making.

Daniel Amaro – Las Cruces (2026)

A historic season for a historic program, Daniel Amaro erupted for 1,843 rushing yards and 39 rushing touchdowns, plus 417 receiving yards and 3 receiving touchdowns. He was the centerpiece of the Bulldawgs’ run to the 6A state championship game.

Hershul Olloway Jr. – St. Pius X (2027)

A workhorse and big-play machine, Hershul Olloway Jr. stacked up 1,786 rushing yards and 27 touchdowns, leading St. Pius X to the 4A state championship game. One of the most explosive backs in New Mexico regardless of class.

Isaiah Dominiguez – St. Michael’s (2026)

A two-way superstar, Isaiah Dominiguez produced 830 rushing yards, 17 rushing touchdowns, plus 579 receiving yards and 6 receiving touchdowns, guiding St. Michael’s to another 3A state championship. One of the most dynamic players in the classification.

Jordan Herrera – Los Alamos (2027)

One of New Mexico’s biggest breakout stars, Jordan Herrera exploded for 2,224 rushing yards and 34 touchdowns, leading Los Alamos to the 5A quarterfinals. A true volume back who carried the program to one of its best seasons in years.

Juan Rios – Gadsden (2026)

A huge season for Gadsden’s offensive resurgence, Juan Rios totaled 1,420 yards and 14 rushing touchdowns while helping guide the Panthers to the 5A semifinals — one of the program’s best playoff runs in over a decade.
