Best Case Scenario: 7-3 Overall, 6-1 District 1-4A
This would be a leap forward for a program that found its footing last season by reaching the quarterfinals after a playoff win. A 7-win regular season would represent a two-game improvement from 2024’s regular season 5-5 campaign. The formula? Take care of business in the games they’re favored and finally edge out teams like Bernalillo and Espanola Valley, both marked as coin flips but with a lean toward Grants. If the Pirates win the games they should and limit mistakes, they could challenge for the district crown.
Worst Case Scenario: 4-6 Overall, 3-4 District 1-4A
Grants is far removed from its recent 1-9 struggles, but the 2025 schedule features several toss-ups. If they fail to capitalize on those close matchups and drop the expected losses at St. Pius X, Dexter, and Bloomfield, they could end up fighting for a playoff spot. One-possession games might define whether they stay in the middle tier of 4A or emerge as a contender.
Final Prediction: 6-4 Overall, 5-2 District 1-4A
The Pirates are clearly on the rise. The 2024 postseason run showed that they’re building something with staying power. Clean up penalties and finish strong in coin-flip games, and Grants has a real shot at not just returning to the playoffs—but going deep. A final four trip like Espanola Valley’s surprise run last year isn’t out of the question if things align in October.
