The latest NMPreps New Mexico high school football Top 100 Player Rankings showcase the elite talent set to take the field for the 2025 season, with a mix of established stars and rising underclassmen.

Top 10 Players

Sitting at No. 1 is Carlsbad’s dominant defensive lineman Colton McKibbens (2027), a force in the trenches who sets the tone for any defense. Right behind him, Cleveland continues its tradition of powerhouse linemen with No. 2 Moses Sparks Jr. (2026) anchoring the offensive front, while teammate Elijah Richards (2026) comes in at No. 3 as a versatile two-way standout at tight end and linebacker.

Lovington’s Alex Rivera (2026) earns the No. 4 spot as one of the state’s most polished offensive linemen, followed by St. Pius X’s electrifying running back Hershul Olloway Jr. (2027) at No. 5, a playmaker already generating Division I buzz. St. Michael’s linebacker/defensive lineman Ryan Hunt (2027) ranks No. 6, showcasing a rare blend of power and speed, while Cibola’s Hayes Baum (2026) holds the No. 7 spot as one of the top defensive leaders in Class 6A.

The top 10 rounds out with Sandia’s shutdown defensive back George Smith (2028) at No. 8, Cleveland quarterback Jordan Hatch (2026) at No. 9, and Las Cruces running back Daniel Amaro (2026) at No. 10, one of the most dynamic offensive threats in the state.

With so much talent spread across multiple classes, this year’s Top 100 is shaping up to be one of the deeper ones.
