New Mexico high school basketball’s top player performances from Week 9 at the mid-point of the week, highlighting the standouts from every corner of the state.

Monday

Sataurus Griego (2026) led all scorers with 26 points and eight rebounds, controlling the paint from start to finish. He was supported by Zander Griego (2026), who stuffed the stat sheet with 12 points, eight rebounds, and four assists as the Scorpions cruised past Shiprock, 65–36.

TUESDAY

Up north, Santa Fe Indian School rolled past West Las Vegas behind a balanced but explosive duo. Dontrey Callado poured in 23 points, while Taivian Callado followed with 22. Christopher Pena chipped in 11 in the 90–55 win.

Pojoaque Valley edged Española 58–56 as seniors delivered late. Joziah Salazar finished with 19 points, and Serafin Mendez added 13 in one of Tuesday’s tightest finishes.

Robertson’s win over Santa Fe Prep featured across-the-board production. Sonnie Cruz (2028) had 13 points and seven rebounds. Diego Jaramillo (2027) posted 12 points, two rebounds, and one assist. Marcus Montoya (2029) added 12 points, two rebounds, and two assists, while Brian Rubin (2028) finished with 11 points and seven rebounds.

New Mexico’s Top 100 Player Rankings

In Taos’ win over Alamosa, it was a stat-sheet clinic from Malakhai Ely (2026), who posted 16 points, 18 rebounds, and six assists. He was supported by Roman Quintana (2026) with 13 points and Roberto Trujillo (2026) with 12.

In the Metro area, Nico Sanchez (2026) delivered again, dropping 21 points for Highland in a win over Del Norte, continuing his strong senior campaign in 4A basketball.

Even in a loss, Atrisco Heritage saw major nights from Deon Session (2027) with 20 points and 13 rebounds, and Rashaud Morris (2027) with 11 points, nine rebounds, and four assists.

Valley’s young backcourt also shined, as Jeremey Rodriguez (2028) scored 21 and Izayah Sanchez (2028) added 15 against Albuquerque Academy.

Week 9 Bracketology – New Mexico HS Basketball

The loudest number of the night belonged to Bryant Scales (2026). The Legacy senior exploded for 45 points and 15 rebounds in a 73–52 win over NACA-Evangel Christian — one of the biggest individual nights in the state this season.

Elsewhere, La Cueva leaned on balance against Sandia. Kobe Cooper (2027) had 16 points, six rebounds, and two assists. Tony Trujillo (2026) added 12 points, four rebounds, and three assists, while Hunter Butler (2026) scored 10. Sandia countered with big nights from George Smith (2028) (20 points, five rebounds, and five assists), Isaiah Brown (2028) (12 points and six assists), and Malachi Knox (2027) (10 points).

Down south, one of the night’s biggest individual performances came in Las Cruces, where Kouliebchen Tou (2026) erupted for 29 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists to lead Centennial past Alamogordo. He was joined by Anthony Eres (2027) with 20 points and Ruiz Laborin (2027) with a massive 14-point, 16-rebound double-double.

Floyd leaned on a trio in its win over Hondo Valley. Aaron Blakely scored 16, Issak Bustamante added 16, and Koby Banister chipped in 15 in a balanced attack.

In District 3-5A rivalry action, Las Cruces pulled away from Mayfield as Jayden Brisby (Sophomore) scored 25. Ben Walton (Senior) and Dominic Luttrell (Senior) each added nine. Mayfield was led by Fernando Corona (Senior) and Christian Covarrubia (Junior), who both finished with 10.

In the northwest, Tohatchi controlled Crownpoint behind Myka Candeleria (2026) with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Myles Candeleria (2028) added 11 points and six assists, while Deandre Rios (2026) filled it up with eight points, five rebounds, and five assists. Crownpoint was paced by Tryan Jodie (2027) with 13 and Jacob Silago (2027) with 10.

WEDNESDAY

In Albuquerque, the final undefeated team went down. Bosque closed with an 18-point fourth quarter behind Josiah Wilson (2027), who posted 17 points, 13 rebounds, and four assists. Luca Kalishman (2027) followed with 13 points, four rebounds, and one assist, while Jordan Kruft (2026) added 11 points as the Bobcats closed the door late.

Bosque ended East Mountain’s undefeated season, handing the Timberwolves their first loss of the year as District 5-3A play officially got underway.
