Bowl projections for Rutgers following Week 11 of the College Football

Rutgers Football is currently one win away from being bowl eligible for the third season in a row following 35-20 victory over the Maryland Terrapins this past Saturday afternoon.
Now the program is hoping to build on last year yet another postseason appearance in 2025 and several top bowl projections have the Scarlet Knights in their early projections. With that being said, let’s take a look where the program could potentially end up this winter.

On3 (Brett McMurphy): GameAbove Sports Bowl – Rutgers versus Buffalo
(December 26th – Detroit, Michigan)
For the first time since the beginning of the season, Brett McMurphy has Rutgers headed to a bowl game and it might not be the one think, as he projects the Scarlet Knights to end up in Detroit the day after Christmas.
As for the opponent, that bowl tie-ins would set up Rutgers against their third MAC opponent of the season and in this scenario, McMurphy thinks it could be Buffalo. The two programs have met on the gridiron on seven occasions, with Rutgers holding a 5-2 series lead. However Buffalo holds the most recent victory, defeating the then Chris Ash led Scarlet Knights by a score of 42-13.
Athlon Sports (Steven Lassan): GameAbove Sports Bowl – Rutgers versus Toledo
(December 26th – Detroit, Michigan)
Same bowl game as the one listed above, but Lassan sees a different opponent in this one, as he has Rutgers lining up against the Jason Candle led Toledo Rockets. The two have never played before.
CBS Sports: GameAbove Sports Bowl – Rutgers versus Miami (OH)
(December 26th – Detroit, Michigan)
Another projection for the Scarlet Knights to end up in Detroit this holiday season, but this matchup is also a different, but in a weird way. CBS is projecting Rutgers to get a rematch against Miami (OH), who they played earlier on in the year in SHI Stadium.
That game was the lone matchup between the two programs and Rutgers went on to win 45-17.
ESPN (Kyle Bonagura): GameAbove Sports Bowl – Rutgers versus Ohio
(December 26th – Detroit, Michigan)
Same bowl projection yet and a similar opponent, as Bonagura has Rutgers facing off against Ohio who they opened up the season against back in August.
The two programs have faced off on four different occasions all-time, with Rutgers leading the series 3-1. As mentioned above, Rutgers and Ohio faced off to begin the season back in late August, where the Scarlet Knights went on to win 34-31.
ESPN (Mark Schlabach): GameAbove Sports Bowl – Rutgers versus Western Michigan
(December 26th – Detroit, Michigan)
Finally a new opponent for Rutgers in the same GameAbove Sports Bowl, as Schlabach has the Scarlet Knights heading to Michigan to face off against Western Michigan in this one the day after Christmas.
The two programs have never played one another before, but there is a lone connection here, as Kirk Ciarrocca was the Offensive Coordinator / Quarterbacks coach for WMU from 2013-2016 under former Rutgers assistant coach PJ Fleck.
