Rutgers Football officially opened training camp on Monday morning, as the team prepares for the upcoming 2025 season. As always with the start of camp, there is also a new roster with number changes, weight gains / losses, new additions and more.

We here at The Knight Report are here to make the roster a little bit easier to read, as we have all the notable updates and changes listed below.

New Uniform Numbers

There’s not a whole lot of new information here, as a lot of the transfers enrolled in spring and kept the same numbers as last year. However there are few new ones, as starting linebacker Dariel Djabome made the switch to No. 8 this summer and with that, defensive end Jordan Walker went from No. 8 to No. 1. For the most part though, a good chunk of these players listed are newcomers who arrived following spring camp.

No Position Changes?

Over the past few seasons, along with the new roster also came some notable position changes for players within the program. Over the years, we’ve seen wide receivers switch to defensive back and vice versa. There’s also been some linemen that flip flopped between the offensive side and defensive side of the ball. However this year, there are no position changes to report as everyone seems to be at the position that were projected to be at.

Summer Freshmen Enrollees Arrive

It’s becoming more and more common with high school football recruiting to enroll early, as the Scarlet Knights saw 27 recruits enroll this past January. However the program had a few stragglers, such as OL Joshua Blackston, DE RJ Johnson, DT Miron Gurman, LB Kamar Archie, and S Tariq Hayer who all signed during the early period, but didn’t arrive until the summer.

They were also joined by late additions to the class in defensive backs Latrell Noel, Cannon Marshall and most recently edge rusher Wydeek Collier, who reclassified from the 2026 class to the 2025 class.

All of the names listed above, minus Collier are on campus and accounted for. Collier’s situation is a little bit different than the rest, as he just made his decision to reclassify recently and still has some academics that need to be cleared before he can enroll. He is still expected to join the team at some point this camp. You can think of this situation somewhat similar to that of former quarterback Gavin Wimsatt, who joined the team during camp a few years back.

Rutgers Football added seven transfers via the spring transfer portal window, as they continue to fill gaps on the roster wherever necessary.
