New Jersey RHP Cole Marchetti signs with Rutgers Baseball

National Signing Day for the college baseball world has arrived. Most of the top college baseball players in the country are signing their National Letter of Intent to their future schools. The Rutgers Scarlet Knights baseball program had a busy day signing their Class of 2026 recruiting class.
One of their top commits who signed their letter of intent was in-state pitching prospect Cole Marchetti.

Marchetti is a 6-foot-3, 200-pound right-handed pitcher out of Northern Burlington Regional High School. On Perfect Game, Marchetti is a Top 500 prospect nationally and the No. 18 ranked prospect in the state of New Jersey.
“The recruiting process was different,” Marchetti said about the recruiting process. “I’ve played baseball my whole life, and you’re always in control, but you’re not always in control of who sees you and if they like how you play.”
During the recruiting process, Marchetti received interest from multiple other programs, but Rutgers always stood out to him. “Once I stepped on Rutgers campus, it felt right,” said Marchetti. “The facilities, coaches, and culture were a perfect fit.”
The Scarlet Knights got involved in Marchetti’s recruitment over the summer and invited him to campus.
“During the summer circuit, I noticed Rutgers at some of my games and attended one of their prospect camps,” Marchetti said. “Rutgers immediately felt like home.”
While on campus, Marchetti began to establish a strong relationship with the Scarlet Knights coaching staff.
“I really connected with the coaching staff,” Marchetti said. “Their message was simply: come play for my home state, develop as a player, and help Rutgers win.”
Now that the in-state prospect has signed to Rutgers, he’s excited for his future as a Scarlet Knight.
“I am looking forward to my senior year and setting foot on campus next fall,” the newest Rutgers signee said. “Rutgers is a great academic school, plus a chance to play in the Big Ten Conference for my home state school.”
