Rutgers Baseball 1B Ty Doucette drafted in 10th round by Cincinnati Reds

Rutgers Baseball redshirt-sophomore first baseman Ty Doucette has become the second Scarlet Knights to be selected in the 2025 MLB Draft today, as the Cincinnati Reds have drafted him in the tenth round with the No. 294 overall pick.
Doucette becomes the second Scarlet Knights to be selected in the 2025 MLB Draft, joining outfielder Trevor Cohen who was selected with the No. 85 overall pick in the third round by the San Francisco Giants. Class of 2025 commit Anthony Frobose was also drafted by the New York Mets in the ninth round.

The 6-foot-2, 205-pounds infielder hails from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia in Canada and played his senior year of high school ball at TNXL Baseball Academy down in Florida. As a high school senior, Doucette was originally committed to Oregon State, but flipped to Rutgers back in December 2022. As a high school prospect, he was ranked the No. 500 overall prospect and the No. 34 overall first baseman in the 2023 class according to Perfect Game.
In his first year with the Scarlet Knights in 2024, Doucette displayed his power immediately as he finished second on the team with nine home runs and 49 RBIs and that was with him missing 10 games due to an injury. Doucette would go on to slash .321/.388/.556 as a true freshman.
In his second season, Doucette took his game up a notch and slashed .350/.431/.557 on the year. He would go on to finish the season 37th overall in the nation for batting average, a team-high 13 home runs and 54 RBIs.
Doucette is expected to sign with the MLB club, and his selection at No. 294 overall has a slot value of $192,600.
