Rutgers Baseball commit Anthony Frobose drafted by New York Mets in MLB Draft's ninth round

Rutgers Baseball has seen a piece of the present, and now the future selected in the MLB Draft.
2025 commit Anthony Frobose was drafted on Monday by the New York Mets in the ninth round, with the 283rd overall pick.
Both a shortstop and right-handed pitcher, Frobose had committed to the Scarlet Knights as a two-way recruit from Lakeland High School in New York. He announced his commitment before his junior season in the summer of 2023.
“I chose Rutgers because I love the atmosphere and coaching staff,” he said at the time of his signing.
In his senior season with the Hornets, Frobose led the team with a .357 batting average and a 1.182 OPS at the plate with two home runs.
He also sported a team-best 2.58 ERA on the mound in five starts, allowing seven earned runs while striking out 41 batters with seven walks.
Frobose was ranked as the No. 14 prospect from New York in the 2025 class, and the No. 4 shortstop in the state, according to Prep Baseball Report. He also played his travel baseball for Northeast Pride National.
As a prospect, Frobose has good size at shortstop at 6-foot-1, with plenty of power in his bat and some plus speed. Some scouts also saw intrigue as a pitcher, with his fastball sitting at 94 miles per hour.
The slot value for the 283rd pick is $196,800.
