Rutgers Basketball wing Dorian Jones is expected to redshirt his true freshman season with the Scarlet Knights, a source tells The Knight Report.

The 6-foot-4, 160-pound wing out of Cleveland, Ohio originally committed and signed with Ohio State as a high school recruit, but seven months after signing, he reopened his recruitment. This past June, Jones requested his release and reopened his recruitment, just a few months later he would end up committing and signing with the Scarlet Knights.

The Richmond Heights High School prospect was previously ranked the nation’s No. 94 overall prospect, No. 27 shooting guard and No. 1 recruit in Ohio in the 2025 cycle according to the Rivals Industry Ranking. He was also Rutgers Basketball’s highest ranked commit in the 2025 class, just narrowly beating out fellow Scarlet Knight Chris Nwuli, who was ranked No. 102 overall.

With Jones redshirting, this will allow for him to sit out and learn more about the college game. This also allows him to add some much needed weight and muscle, as the Big Ten Conference is considered one of, if not the most physical in all of college basketball.

Rutgers Basketball is all now all set to open the season tonight, as they welcome the Rider Broncs to Jersey Mike’s Arena. Tip-off is set for 6:00pm ET and the game will be televised on the Big Ten Network.
