Rutgers Football opens as slight underdogs versus Iowa

The spread for the upcoming game between Rutgers Football and Iowa Hawkeyes has been released ahead of the September 19th matchup and for the first time this season the Scarlet Knights are a slight underdogs according to the sportsbooks.
According to Fanduel, Rutgers Football opened as a 3.5-point underdogs for this one against Iowa, but the spread quickly dropped to just 1.5 points almost immediately after opening. The over / under on the game is set at 42.5 total points.

Last week, Rutgers Football faced off against their second MAC opponent in a row, as they defeated last year’s MAC runner-up in the Miami (OH) RedHawks by a final score of 45-17. The Scarlet Knights are currently 2-0 on the year and this week will welcome Norfolk State to town for their final non-conference matchup of the season.
On the flip side, the Iowa Hawkeyes are 1-1 on the year with a big 34-7 win against Albany to open the season, but then ended up losing the Cy–Hawk Trophy to Iowa State this past Saturday by a score of 16-13. This week the Hawkeyes will welcome a familiar face to Rutgers fans to Kinnick Stadium, as the Joe Harasymiak UMass Minutemen head to the Midwest.
This matchup between Iowa and Rutgers next week will be the fifth ever between the two programs, with the Hawkeyes winning all four of the matchups between the two programs.
