Rutgers RB Antwan Raymond named 2025 Doak Walker Award Semifinalist
Despite not making the preseason or even midseason watch list, Rutgers running back Antwan Raymond has been named one of 10 semifinalists for the Doak Walker Award, which is presented to the nation’s top running back.
Raymond is currently sitting at 1,000 total rushing yards on the season and that’s good for the second most in the Big Ten Conference and 10th most nationally through 10 games.
The Montreal native played his high school football at Clearwater Academy International in Florida, a familiar recruiting ground for the Scarlet Knights. The standout running back earned 20 offers at the Power Four level, dominating the competition with over 2,000 scrimmage yards.
Then came the unexpected: Clearwater announced in February of 2024 that it would be closing the doors on the football program. Leaving Raymond and many others left looking for a new home on the gridiron. Already being heavily recruited by Rutgers, Raymond opted to commit to the program and arrive a year early.
Last year as a true freshman mid-year enrollee, Raymond backed up now Chicago Bears running back Kyle Monangai and finished with 100 carries for 457 yards and eight touchdowns.
With this honor of being a Dock Walker semifinalist, he becomes the second Scarlet Knight to ever earn this honor, joining Ray Rice who as a semifinalist in 2007.
