Rutgers Women’s Basketball made four new additions to the coaching staff, replacing three departures as head coach Coquese Washington enters her fourth season at the helm.

Shannon LeBeauf (UCLA), Sean LeBeauf (UC Riverside), Danielle Edwards (SMU), and James Spinelli (Northeastern) replace Tasha Pointer, Johnetta Hayes (Head Coach at Alabama State), and John Hampton (Assistant Coach at George Washington). Nneka Enemkpali, an assistant coach for the Scarlet Knights for the last two seasons, will take on a new role as the program’s Chief of Staff.

With all that being said, The Knight Report decided to submit various open records requests to look into what those new faces will earn in the upcoming 2025-26 season.

Rutgers Women’s Basketball salaries

  • Sr. Associate Head Coach Shannon LeBeauf: One-year contract, $400,000 (expires April 30th, 2026)
  • Assistant Coach / Def. Coordinator Sean LeBeauf: $150,000 (expires April 30th, 2026)
  • Assistant Coach / Director of Recruiting Operations Danielle Edwards: $140,000 (expires April 30th, 2026)
  • Assistant Coach / Director of Scouting & Analytics James Spinelli: $110,000 (expires April 30th, 2026)

The quartet also has the following performance-based bonuses in their contracts, as well:

  • Women’s Invitation Tournament postseason appearance $ 2,500
  • Conference regular season title (or share of title) $ 5,000
  • Conference tournament championship $ 5,000
  • NCAA Tournament first round appearance $ 5,000
  • NCAA Tournament regional round appearance $ 5,000
  • NCAA Elite Eight appearance $ 5,000
  • NCAA Final Four appearance $ 5,000
  • NCAA Tournament national semifinal win $ 5,000
  • NCAA Tournament national championship $ 10,000

Rutgers also made another support staff hire, elevating Alejandro Ramirez to the full-time Director of Operations role after serving as the interim in the 2024-25 season. He also signed a one-year contract set to expire on April 30th, 2026, for $77,250.

Assistant coach and new offensive coordinator Jeanine Wasielewski was the lone assistant to stay in the same role on the coaching staff. Both her contract, as well as Enemkpali’s, have yet to be updated by the university.

Contract notes

The biggest takeaway from the updated contracts – as well as from the offseason as a whole – was the addition of Shannon LeBeauf, which was no small feat. She worked with the Bruins and head coach Cori Close for over a decade, helping build UCLA into one of the country’s top contenders in the sport. As a recruiter and coach, she has a widely-known reputation, and her husband Sean has put together solid defenses throughout his coaching career.

Another point of interest comes from who the contracts were signed by, on the university front. Though they were signed in around the same timeframe – all four assistant coach contracts are dated on August 5th, and all were signed by the respective coaches within four days – some were signed by different people.

Both LeBeauf’s as well as Edwards had their contracts signed by former interim Athletic Director Matt Colagiovanni. August 5th was his final day in the position before the hiring of new AD Keli Zinn. Spinelli and Ramirez, on the other hand, had their contracts signed by Deputy Athletic Director / Chief Operating Officer Michael Szul on the same day.

With Zinn now fully in the fold, it remains to be seen when her first signing will be.

In all, Rutgers signaled a big investment into turning around what has been a lengthy rebuild for the Scarlet Knights’ program since the retirement of Hall of Fame coach C. Vivian Stringer, with a rebuilt roster and coaching staff ahead of a pivotal season.
