Tufts University taps Rutgers Interim AD Ryan Pisarri as new Athletic Director

Rutgers University Interim Athletic Director Ryan Pisarri will be leaving the school after 14 years with the Scarlet Knights, joining Tufts University in Massachusetts as the school’s new Athletic Director per a report from NJ Advanced Media.
Pisarri is a Wyckoff, New Jersey native and earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania, where he was also a member of the Quakers football program. After that, he earned two Master’s Degrees from Rutgers, one in Education and another in Business Administration.
As mentioned above, Pisarri spent 14 years with the Scarlet Knights athletic department, doing a little of everything. He started out as an Academic Support Assistant back in 2011, before moving on to Assistant Director of Marketing, Chief of Staff to the Athletic Director, Senior Associate Athletic Director Sport Administration, Deputy Athletic Director, and of course most recently Interim Athletic Director.
Pisarri only became the Interim Athletic Director after then AD Pat Hobbs abruptly resigned last August.
Per the release, “Palumbo will operate as the primary sport administrator for the football program, while providing leadership throughout the department, overseeing several units, including, finance and budget, event operations, facilities, capital projects, strategic initiatives, and equipment. “
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
With Pisarri now moving on, this likely means that the school is inching even closer to making an official hire for the new Athletic Director. As was previously reported on The Knight Report, Rutgers University contracted the likes of the TurnkeyZRG search firm to help them with the ongoing search back in late May to assist in the process.
It’s been confirmed by TKR that the intentions are for the Scarlet Knights to hire a business first professional for the Athletic Director spot and also a No. 2 who has experience working in an athletic department, to help manage that side of things.
Stay tuned right here on The Knight Report for the latest on the Athletic Director search, as a decision could be announced soon.
