Daniel wideout commits to Clemson
Clemson has scored another commitment for the next recruiting class with strong connection.
Central (S.C.) D.W. Daniel receiver Trey Wimbley announced his commitment to the Tigers on Wednesday.
Wimbley (6-1, 180) picked up an offer from Clemson little more than a week ago upon reclassifying from the 2028 class.

“It meant a lot,” Wimbley told Tigerillustrated.com. “I’ve been coming to Clemson for a few years now. So this one felt different.”
Wimbley picked up his first offers via Ole Miss and SMU over the summer. Tennessee has demonstrated sustained interest, while Florida State has been in communication over recent weeks prior to the reclassification decision.

But this was a matter of when, not if.
Wimbley’s father, Prince, played receiver alongside Dabo Swinney on Alabama’s 1992 national championship squad.
Trey began attending Clemson’s camps in the seventh grade while a student at Birmingham (Ala.) Briarwood Christian, which also had Tide ties.
Wimbley then moved to the Upstate for his high school career as his father works for Swinney’s All-In Foundation.
As a sophomore, he registered 57 catches for 1,072 yards and 14 touchdowns.
Wimbley said he and his family had quietly been deliberating the possibility of reclassification for almost a year.
He attended every Clemson home game this season while also making recruiting trips to UGA and Tennessee.

Wimbley becomes the fifth commitment for the Tigers’ 2027 class, joining Gainesville (Ga.) four-star quarterback Kharim Hughley, Jefferson (Ga.) linebacker Max Brown, Bogart (Ga.) North Oconee safety Harrison Luke and Central (S.C.) Daniel cornerback P.J. Chancellor.

Brown is the brother of Clemson starting linebacker Sammy Brown. Luke is the son of offensive line coach Matt Luke, while Chancellor is the son of former Tigers corner Chris Chancellor.
