Clemson has its linebacker for this recruiting class.

Cincinnati (Ohio) St. Xavier’s Brayden Reilly announced his commitment to the Tigers on Friday.

Tigerillustrated.com issued its projection for Reilly (6-3, 215), a recent Northwestern decommitment, earlier this morning.

He withdrew his pledge from Northwestern on Wednesday, just a few days after revealing offers from Clemson, Michigan and Vanderbilt. He also had additional suitors reach out over recent weeks, only to rebuff their interest.

Clemson missed out on its lone linebacker target over the summer, then elected to exert patience in surveying the field for an attractive option.

We first introduced Reilly to subscribers in our Oct. 13 Insider, strongly highlighting as an impending target to know for this class.

Reilly, who comes in at No. 586 in the Rivals Industry Ranking, picked Northwestern in May after taking an official visit. Indiana, Missouri and Wake Forest were other finalists, while Virginia was about to arrive late to the party.

Clemson swung a relatively later flip last cycle to procure his teammate, offensive lineman Tucker Kattus, from Kentucky.

The relationship and respect at his program certainly dates earlier, as the Tigers signed offensive lineman Matt Bockhorst from St. Xavier and longtime coach Scott Specht in 2017.

We would tell you coach Ben Boulware traveled to scout Reilly several weeks ago, and Clemson dug in thereafter.

As we informed readers earlier this week, despite Michigan’s move, we liked where the Tigers stood.

Two days ago, we wrote that we anticipated Clemson being aggressive in bringing Reilly in sooner rather than later for an official visit — which subsequently was finalized for next week’s home game against Duke.

He will arrive as the 22nd member of the Tigers’ class.

The Tigers now focus their attention on scoring another defensive end and cornerback to likely cap their class.
