Wednesday Night Clemson Practice Update: Klubnik, Vizzina, Leigh

CLEMSON — Dabo Swinney said Cade Klubnik has been limited this week in practice but “is literally getting better every hour.”
Klubnik suffered a sprained ankle in the second half of last week’s win at Boston College and didn’t return.

Swinney said after Wednesday’s practice that Christopher Vizzina and Trent Pearman have been getting a “ton” of work thus far in practice.
“If Cade can’t go, CV is the guy for sure,” Swinney said. “And we have confidence in him.”

Swinney said they’ve been “taking our time” with Klubnik as he recovers. Klubnik has started 34 consecutive games for the Tigers.
“He’s gone from day-to-day to hour-to-hour,” he said. “Hopefully by tomorrow he’ll be minute-to-minute.”
Swinney said Klubnik and left tackle Tristan Leigh will be on the injury report Clemson provides to the ACC on Thursday evening.
Leigh has also missed time recently with an ankle injury. Brayden Jacobs replaced Leigh early against Boston College and flourished in his first substantial playing time as a freshman.
Klubnik’s absence would be a big blow for the offense in Saturday’s 3:30 PM game against SMU at Death Valley. He spent much of the past two games regaining his rhythm and confidence after struggling mightily during the Tigers’ 1-3 start.
“We’ve been smart with him and done what we needed to do,” Swinney said.
Clemson has an open date next week.
Swinney said the Tigers had “a really good practice today as a team.”
