Clemson is just under four weeks away from its primetime August 30 season opener vs. LSU in Death Valley.

It’s been a busy weekend in Upstate, South Carolina with fall camp beginning last Thursday and practices, of course, continuing throughout the weekend and resuming today.

It was also a busy weekend off-the-field for the Tigers with highly-regarded defensive back Shavar Young reaffirming his pledge after a serious flirtation with several programs and their more attractive NIL packages, notably SMU.

Of course, Tigerillustrated.com’s subscribers have been in the loop on Young’s recruitment every step of the way. And over the weekend our subscribers were the first to know of Young’s decision to spurn a late-summer push from the Mustangs and stay with the Tigers when Rivals‘ national analyst Sam Spiegelman first-reported the news on our members-only forum Sunday afternoon. Rivals Director Of Recruiting Chad Simmons later followed in the evening as the first to speak with Young.

So where does that leave Clemson’s recruiting class just under a month before the season opener?

As of Monday, the Tigers’ recruiting class sits at No. 13 nationally at Rivals.

Miami holds the top-rated class in the Atlantic Coast Conference with a No. 10 billing.

USC, Georgia, Oregon, Notre Dame, Texas, Texas A&M, LSU and Ohio State round out the rest of the top 10 at No. 1-through-9 respectively with Michigan and Tennessee just ahead of the Tigers at No. 11 and 12 respectively.

Clemson holds 21 verbal commitments with 13 of those pledges billed four stars. Jacksonville (Fla.) Bolles wideout Naeem Burroughs remains the class headliner with a No. 71 rating nationally overall regardless of position.

The Tigers are not done with the class as more commitments are likely before the conclusion of the cycle.

Rivals rates Young 496th nationally overall regardless of position, 15th overall in the state of Tennessee and 46th among cornerback prospects.
