Charlie Jilek decommits from UCF, flips to Minnesota

UCF has lost a commitment in the 2026 class as Portage Central (Mich.) standout Charlie Jilek has flipped his pledge to Minnesota, citing a preference to play on the defensive side of the ball.
Jilek initially committed to UCF in April and returned to campus for his official visit in June. The Knights were recruiting him as a tight end, but Minnesota recently entered the picture with an offer to play linebacker.
“It was a really tough decision because I had built such a good relationship with the coaches (at UCF), but I feel a lot more comfortable playing defense,” Jilek told Allen Trieu of 247Sports. “I really like playing middle linebacker. It was a tough decision because the coaches were so great to me at UCF. I felt bad doing it, but I know this is the right decision for me and my family. It was definitely tough.”
With Jilek’s departure, UCF’s 2026 recruiting class now stands at 13 commitments.
