UCF men’s basketball roster updated with summer arrivals
UCF has officially updated its men’s basketball roster to reflect the addition of summer enrollees.
It’s a complete overhaul for head coach Johnny Dawkins — 13 of the 15 listed players are newcomers.
The only returnees are walk-ons Poohpa Warakulnukroh and Elijah Hulsewe.
One notable absence is Arizona State transfer BJ Freeman. He announced his commitment to UCF in late April, but he is not listed on the updated roster, and the school never announced his signing. His Instagram bio still indicates his UCF commitment. I’ve reached out to him for clarification of his status.
Under the NCAA’s new House Settlement guidelines, men’s basketball rosters will be limited to 15 players moving forward. However, returning walk-ons are grandfathered in and do not count against the roster cap.
As for the schedule, UCF was originally scheduled to open the season at Texas A&M, but that game has been pushed back to Nov. 14.
The Knights will also face Pittsburgh in Daytona Beach on Nov. 20. The remainder of the non-conference schedule will be announced at a later date.
In Big 12 play, UCF will host home-only games against Arizona, Arizona State, Baylor, Kansas, TCU and Texas Tech.
The road-only conference matchups include BYU, Colorado, Houston, Iowa State, Kansas State and Utah.
UCF will have home-and-away series with Cincinnati, Oklahoma State and West Virginia.
