Despite his commitment to Wisconsin, Sandy Creek (GA) four-star running back Amari Latimer is still in contact with Georgia.

The Bulldogs will continue to pursue Latimer until he officially signs with the Badgers.

Georgia has already secured a commitment from four-star prospect Jae Lamar, but the Bulldogs are still looking for another running back in the 2026 class after missing out on Derek Cooper.

The Georgia staff has a clear message for Latimer. They want him to stay home and play for the red and black.

“So, their message to me was just I’ll always have a home at Georgia, and just keep them in the loop of what I’ve got going on,” Latimer said. “They’re going to continue to reach out to me and things of that nature.”

Even though the staff prioritized Lamar, Cooper, and four-star Savion Hiter, the 6-foot, 200-pound running back still has a lot of interest in the Bulldogs. He still considers Georgia a top school in his recruitment.

“Georgia is definitely high on my list,” Latimer expressed.

The Bulldogs offered Latimer early in his recruitment when he was a sophomore in high school. He has made the short drive to Athens many times, as he is from the Atlanta area, and he has visited with the staff, so there is familiarity.

Georgia running backs coach Josh Crawford has kept in touch with Latimer, who values the relationship with him.

“I definitely try to keep in touch with Coach (Kirby) Smart and Coach Crawford,” Latimer said. “That’s really big to me. You know, coaches can get fired, coaches can leave. So, just keeping that relationship going is big.”

Latimer said he is still trying to develop a closer relationship with Crawford. When he recently visited for a spring practice, he saw how the Bulldog position coach interacted with his players.

“I like the way he coached,” Latimer said. “I like the way he goes about with the players and things of that nature.”

Latimer assured that he’s keeping the door open for the Bulldogs and other schools, but it might be hard to flip him because his brother currently plays for the Badgers. Regardless, he hasn’t ruled out a possible return to Athens.

“Honestly, [my recruitment] could go all the way to December, but I don’t know,” Latimer said.
