2nd Half Surge Leads Glen Allen to 46-7 Win!

For those who follow me on Twitter many of the pre-game nugget boxes were checked in the latest meeting of Glen Allen and Mills Godwin.
Glen Allen had never won 4 straight against Godwin. They have now.
Mills Godwin had been held to single digits in 6 of the last 7 meetings with Glen Allen. Make that 7 of 8 now.
Only 3 of the 14 meetings had been decided by a touchdown or less. Make that 3 of 15.
Mills Godwin is 6-2 at home in series… now they are 6-3.
Glen Allen took the 19 minute, 11. 6 mile trip to Short Pump and handed the Eagles their fifth straight loss of the season. For much of the first half this game was in doubt with both teams defenses changing the perspective of the matchup. What we thought to be a battle of quarterbacks was a defensive battle early on.
For the first half of football it was a defensive struggle and a survival of penalties. Within the last five minutes of the first half, however, Ralphie Puccinelli and Colin Whidbee changed the complexion of the contest with two TD’s. That sparked something within the Jags for it was on from there.
The Jags defense held Godwin scoreless for 41 minutes and 15 seconds. Meanwhile the Jags scored 3 TD’s with Puccinelli the conductor of the offensive train barreling down the tracks. Those 3 touchdowns and a safety in the span of 11 minutes and 45 seconds of game time put this one out of the reach of the Eagles in a flurry.
Even when Godwin did get on the board, their defense still fell prey to the Jaguar offense who was then under the direction of Luke Perini. There was no shortage of players stepping on on both squads to make plays but the Jags made the bigger players, they were the aggressor and it showed.
1st Quarter Highs & Lows
Mills Godwin’s highlights of the first quarter consisted of a big return on the opening kick-off from Noah Wilbourne and a stellar defensive stand on the Jags second offensive possession. Glen Allen put together a 72-yard drive but the Eagles defense got a sack and stuffed the line on 4th & 1 to keep Ralphie Puccinelli from converting at the Eagles 8 yard line!
Speaking of defense… the Jags can play some defense. Jamary DeBerry batted down a Luke Roberts pass. The first Eagles possession alone saw Cooper McPherson making his presence known with three tackles. Godwin’s second possession was a 3 & out.
On offense, early on we saw the beginning of more to come when Ralphie and Colin Whidbee connected on a 17-yard pass.
2nd Quarter Highs & Lows
The two possessions for both squads could not have been more different in the second quarter.
When Luke Roberts hit Kahne Southworth with a 45-yard pass you felt maybe just maybe the Eagles defense was about to turn a corner. Unfortunately for the Eagles it was 3 & out after that and one of the culprits was Cooper McPherson who continued to shine in this one on defense.
Southworth & Roberts hooked up once again on the Eagles second possession, this time for 26 yards. Unfortunately Roberts would hookup with Davis Fisher of Glen Allen immediately following that play.
That Godwin possession was sandwiched between two Jaguar scoring drives. The first one was 69 yards and from jump they Jags had to overcome a penalty for an illegal forward pass. A Godwin penalty extended the Jags drive when they were called for an illegal substitution. By the time the Jaguars got to the 5-yard line, they had to work for it, the Eagles defense didn’t make it easy on them. It was on 4th down when Colin Whidbee brought home a 2-yard pass from Puccinelli.
The Godwin shutout was over.
When Glen Allen got the ball back, they went 77 yards putting their last scoring drive to shame with Colin Whidbee and Ralphie connecting for a second time. This touchdown was mailed in from 35 yards out to add to it, Cooper McPherson scored to convert the 2-point conversion.
Glen Allen went into the half up 15-0.
3rd Quarter Highs & Lows
The third quarter did lack for action from start to finish.
The banging start was a 68-yard kick return that setup the Jags on the 15 yard line. On third and & 11 Braxton Pursell did his best “not in my house” impersonation by knocking down a Ralphie Puccinelli pass.
A personal foul call, however would extend the Jags drive and 3 plays later Puccinelli was hitting Davis Fisher from 6 yards out. A Luke Perini 2-point conversion later the Jags had picked up right where they left off in the first half.
Mills Godwin had the ball 4 times in the third quarter and came away with nothing but tough breaks on offense. A Jamary DeBerry sack forced a turnover on downs for the Eagles. In fact, the Eagles never did convert a first down in third quarter. Their last possession of the quarter saw the Eagles punt blocked and the Jags got the safety.
The lone bright spots for the Eagles came on defense. Stone Gravitt recovered a fumble after Davis Fisher fumbled following a pass from his QB. Then when Glen Allen had a short field to work with at the Eagles 10, Noah Wilbourne intercepted Puccinelli in the end zone.
Tough breaks for the Jags but bookended by the opening TD and the safety was a second Puccinelli-Fisher TD combo platter. That safety came about when William Ogbonna blocked a punt. By the time the third quarter had ended, a 15-0 lead for Glen Allen was a 32-point lead.
4th Quarter Highs & Lows
The fourth quarter lacked the pop that the third quarter packed but it did not lack scoring.
The final Ralphie Puccinelli TD of the night came via the ground game to cap offer a 35-yard drive that saw Ralphie score from 5 yards out.
Mills Godwin end the Jaguars shutout on a 75-yard drive that saw a heavy dose of the run game. QB Luke Roberts & Konstantino Kovanes mixed it up over 7 straight runs before Luke hit his spot on a 14-yard shot to Stone Gravitt.
With the PAT the Eagles weren’t staging a comeback but they weren’t going quietly into the good night.
Then again neither was Glen Allen whose final possession ended like most of their possessions on this night. Puccinelli had come out and at QB now as Luke Perini. Luke & Jacob Boyd put together a 73-yard drive that saw the Jags score one last time. The Jags almost did not score however. On 4th & goal at the 10 the Eagles were called for pass interference. Still fourth down, the ball at the 5 the Jags were called for a false start twice! Luke had seen enough so instead of relying on the ground game he went airborne to Ty Tirri. With 3:09 to go the Jags put on the finishing move leading 46-7 over the Eagles.
The Eagles night came to an end when Troy Morris broke up a Luke Roberts pass. It was emblematic of the tough night Godwin had from start to finish with a few bright spots mixed in.

Coach Speak
Mills Godwin Gamers
Luke Roberts (2027 QB) rallied late for 94 yards through the air and a late TD completing 7 of 19 passes. Unofficially Roberts had a little over 50 yards rushing on 7 carries. Luke was under pressure constantly and scrambling much of the night to make a play against a tough defense.
Noah Wilbourne (2026 WR) was a name you heard often Friday night be it catching passes or on defense. Defensively Noah had 6 tackles plus an interception.
Konstantio Kovanes (2026 RB) carried the ball 14 times for a little over 50 yards against a tough Jaguar defense.
Glen Allen Gamers
Cooper McPherson was impressive on defense with roughly 10 tackle on the night. Early on he was the most ferocious and relentless Jaguar on defense. Just a junior, this defensive tackle is one to keep your eye on for the rest of this season and next.
Ralphie Puccinelli (2027 QB) obviously is absolutely sensational at QB with a commanding presence on offense. Throwing for 206 yards, Ralphie completed 16 of 25 passes and 5 TD’s in the process. The junior QB also had 73 yards on the ground to supplement the production his arm was putting out and a touchdown there as well.
Colin Whidbee (2026 WR) and his QB have a connection that cannot be denied. The two hooked up 8 times racking up 139 yards and 2 TD’s through the air. This duo can do some damage and have come along way since week one.
William Ogbonna (2026 DE) made his presence felt collecting five tackles on this night but brought the pressure time and time again. That was never more apparent than when William blocked a punt that ultimately resulted in a safety for Jags.
