Culpeper County Blue Devils 2025 Preview
Culpeper County Blue Devils
2024 record: 3-8 (lost 1st round playoffs)
Head Coach Eric Sherry (3rd year)
Culpeper County got off to a nice start with a 2-1 record, but they won only one game the rest of the way. Still, they earned a playoff spot in Coach Sherry’s second season and two of the last three years.
Blue Devils Offense
Senior Riley Vinyard led the team in rushing. He was All-State in wrestling in the 190 class, finishing State runner-up. Senior Caleb Green had 362 yards rushing and 393 yards receiving. He was selected 2nd team All-Region at running back. The running game also welcomes back junior fullback Malachi Brock.
Quarterback Riley Lentz (6-0, 187) was the backup quarterback last year; however, he has starting experience. Junior Jossie Shifflet (6-2, 205) started at wide receiver, and senior Keshawn Tyler lines up at the other receiver spot. Senior Jason Arias will be the new tight end.
Senior Kam Dodson was All-Battlefield District Honorable Mention for offensive line. Starting center Garret Reingruber returns for his junior year. Markell Reid, Devonte Butler, and freshman Daevon Penn should grab the remaining starting roles.
Blue Devils Defense
Senior Caleb Green earned 2nd team All-Region, and his sophomore brother Colton Green joins him in the defensive backfield. Masyn Elkins returns to his free safety position. Senior Keshawn Tyler and junior Richie Cannon will lock down the starting cornerback slots.
Culpeper County’s linebacker group could be among the best in the Region. Riley Vinyard was also 2nd team All-Region, and senior Tyler McKnight was All-Battlefield Honorable Mention. Senior Brendyn Stover is a returning starter with experience.
The Blue Devils return both defensive end starters, with senior Kam Dodson and Jossie Shifflet coming back. Junior Saul Acevedo is the projected nose guard.
Outlook
Culpeper County Schedule Maxpreps
Culpeper County plays at a disadvantage every year with only three games against Class 3 teams. While they gain additional points with their schedule, the final score doesn’t always reflect their effort during games. The Blue Devils improved by one game from their previous season, and another one-game improvement should result in a second straight playoff appearance.
