Hopewell High School has announced James Pelham as its new Head Basketball Coach.

A 1993 Hopewell grad, Pelham was the school’s all-time leading scorer until his nephew – Elvin Edmonds IV – broke that record in 2021. He has been an assistant for the Blue Devils since 2020.

Pelham reaplaces Elvin Edmonds III, who guided the Blue Devils to a State Championship during the COVID-shortened campaign in 2021 and also a trip to the Class 3 State Finals this past March, where they were beaten by Spotswood 57-50.

Hopewell has gone 123-32 overall since the start of 2018-19, reaching the State Tournament Final Four round or later in four of those seven seasons.

James Pelham has been named the new Head Basketball Coach of the Hopewell Blue Devils
