King's Fork Vs Indian River

King’s Fork scored two touchdowns in the 4th quarter as they spoiled senior night for Indian River with a 21-14 win. Senior Zy’Dar’Eyus Wynn was the star for the offense, scoring two touchdowns. He returned the opening kickoff 85 yards, and he added a 9-yard touchdown reception with 5:10 remaining in the game to give the Bulldogs a 21-14 lead.

Indian River made it down to the King’s Fork 6-yard line with two minutes to go, but a false start and two incomplete passes sealed any chance for a game-tying touchdown.

Wynn, who returned a kickoff 85 yards in the season-opening win over Wise, took the opening kickoff and weaved his way to the endzone on a muddy field to give Kings’ Fork a 7-0 lead.

Moments later, Indian River freshman phenom Lord Malik Heru scrambled around and found senior Ryan Robinson all alone about 20 yards behind every King’s Fork defender for an 83-yard touchdown pass. The Braves missed the extra point and trailed 7-6 at the halftime break.

Heru finished 14 of 24 passing for 171 yards

Indian River opened the 2nd half with a scoring drive that was aided by a muffed punt, which gave the Braves a 1st down at the King’s Fork 20-yard line. Senior running back Tre Pugh took full advantage of the gift with a 6-yard touchdown run with 9:13 to go in the 3rd quarter. The 2-point conversion gave Indian River a 14-7 lead.

King’s Fork tied the game a minute into the 4th quarter on a 17-yard run by senior Isiah Gilliam. He finished with 18 carries for 93 yards and a touchdown. The Bulldogs’ defense forced a punt, then completed the game-winning 8-play, 50-yard touchdown drive.

The Bulldogs improved to 8-1 with one home game remaining against Suffolk rival Nansemond River. The loss drops Indian River to 7-2 with a road game at Hickory next week.
