Follow our LIVE Game Blog from Darling Stadium in Hampton, where Highland Springs improved to 3-2 overall by blanking the reigning four-time State Champion Phoebus Phantoms, 28-0 in an out-of-district clash on the first Thursday in October of 2025.
The Phantoms (2-2) – who had won 51 in a row prior to their 34-20 loss to Warwick last weekend – have now suffered consecutive defeats in the same season for the first time since October of 2016. That year, they were shut out in back-to-back weeks by Hampton and Woodside.
Highland Springs totaled 427 yards of offense with 325 coming on the ground from seven different ball carriers. Eric Byrd led the way with 192 yards on 21 attempts.
Antoine ‘Buddy’ Richardson had a hand in all four touchdowns, completing 6 of 10 passes for 112 yards and a 34-yard score to Jalen Padmore. Richardson also rushed for 55 yards and three scores on six attempts to go with an interception on defense.
