New Kent continued their run to a playoff game with a 54-6 win over Bruton in a Bay Rivers District game. Senior Ben Christian and junior Trey Wynn combined for six rushing touchdowns for the Trojans, who improved to 5-2.

New Kent struck first, driving 65 yards on their 1st possession, which resulted in a 3-yard run by Wynn.

Bruton scored with 5:43 to go in the 2nd quarter when quarterback James Carlyle-Greene threw to junior Abraham Owens, who made a great catch to complete a 70-yard touchdown reception. The 2-point try was no good, and Bruton trailed by one (7-6). However, that was as close as they would get, as New Kent ran off 47 straight points.

The Trojans scored on their next three possessions before the half. A great punt return by Dylan Bowman, which included a 15-yard personal foul penalty, set up 1st-and-goal with under a minute to go. Chase Wiles punched it in for a 27-6 lead at halftime.

New Kent added 27 more points in the 2nd half and played without most of their starters at the end of the 3rd quarter.

Wynn finished with three touchdowns with 115 yards on 14 carries. Ben Christian had 11 carries for 136 yards and three touchdowns while adding 82 yards passing.

Chase Wiles, Andrew Fallon, and Jaron Collins were two of the defensive stars who limited the Panthers to 68 rushing yards allowed on 33 attempts and 131 yards passing allowed on 17 attempts. Wiles finished with 13 tackles, and Andrew Fallon finished with 12.5.
