Riverbend Powers Past Colonial Forge

I thought Riverbend was a little too confident scheduling an undefeated Colonial Forge for their homecoming game. However, the Bears dominated the line of scrimmage and scored on their first six possessions to defeat the Eagles 41-27. Riverbend scored a touchdown in every quarter while finishing with 393 yards rushing.
Sophomore running back Adrien Picot scored on touchdown runs covering 42 and 46 yards for Riverbend, who remained undefeated. He finished with 180 yards on 12 carries.

Senior quarterback Ian Shook only attempted two passes but completed a 68-yard touchdown pass to Cam Simmons. He gained 151 yards with two touchdown runs on the ground. Sophomore Amare Johnson added 42 yards while assisting the running game with some great blocking when he was in the backfield.
Junior Camden Simmons opened the scoring with a 9-yard touchdown run and added a 68-yard touchdown reception just before the end of the 1st half. He finished with 110 yards on four touches from scrimmage.
Junior James Sharon (6-4, 320), senior Rickey Cedeno (6-1, 215), Peyton McNeil, and tight end Aden Herndon helped the Bears win the scrimmage battle, which led to only one pass attempt, which went for a touchdown.
The Bears’ defense wasn’t great, but they did hold Colonial Forge to a season low of 27 points. Samuel Cox had a sack and two tackles for loss. Cam Simmons had an interception and four solo tackles. Senior Israel Johnson had four solo tackles and three assists to lead the team in tackles.
Colonial Forge quarterback Brock Brimhall was able to move the ball when the Eagles’ offense was on the field. He completed 18 of 23 passes for 204 yards and three touchdown passes while gaining 42 yards on the ground. Brimhall connected with Old Dominion commit Taysean Jones, who caught five passes for 63 yards.
