West Virginia adds commitment from point guard Amir Jenkins

The West Virginia Mountaineers basketball program has added a commitment from Worcester (Ma.) Worcester Academy point guard Amir Jenkins.
Jenkins, 6-foot-2, 170-pounds, picked the Mountaineers over scholarship offers from Maryland, Xavier, Creighton, Mississippi State, Virginia Tech, Georgia, Wake Forest, Arizona State, Boston College, South Florida, East Carolina, George Washington and more.
The news was first reported by Joe Tipton of On3.
Rated as an 90.0 four-star prospect and the 99th player nationally by On3, Jenkins took an official visit to Morgantown in late June, and the program surged to the top of his list of options.
Jenkins received an offer from the Mountaineers in early June from head coach Ross Hodge and things moved quickly between the two parties.
Jenkins is expected to reclassify to the 2025 class in order to add to the roster for this coming season giving Hodge more options at his disposal.
Scouting
Senior National Recruiting Analyst Jamie Shaw had this to say about seeing Jenkins at the NBPA Top 100 Camp in June.
“Amir Jenkins has a crafty handle and was able to consistently put pressure on the defense, getting to his spots in the half court. He has good lengthy and is a good enough athlete. He will need to continue adding weight, which will help him finish more consistently around the basket. Developing his jumper will also expand his game more. However, his ability to get into the teeth of the defense and keep a live dribble is very intriguing.”
WVSports.com will have more with Jenkins in the immediate future.
