West Virginia lands massive signing day commitment from Matt Sieg
The West Virginia Mountaineers football program has pulled a major signing day win securing a massive commitment from Mcdonald (Pa.) Fort Cherry 2026 athlete Matt Sieg.
Sieg, 6-foot-0, 185-pounds, had been committed to Penn State since Nov. 2, 2024, but explored his options taking known visits to Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech and Indiana along with West Virginia.
But the Mountaineers gained traction in his recruitment down the stretch as first reported by Steve Wiltfong of Rivals.
The Rivals Industry four-star prospect elected to commit to West Virginia giving the football program a massive addition from a standout local product.
Head Coach Rich Rodriguez along with many other coaches were involved in the pursuit of Sieg.
Sieg is a Rivals Industry four-star prospect and is rated as an 88 three-star by Rivals. He is the 40th ranked safety in the country but could potentially play multiple positions in college.
Sieg totaled 12,592 yards and 139 touchdowns over his career on the offensive side of the ball and was named first-team all-conference on both sides of the football.
The Keystone State product became a major target for the Mountaineers once James Franklin departed Penn State and were ultimately able to pull it off down the stretch.
Sieg gives the West Virginia coaching staff a massive win on the recruiting trail and a player that could potentially play on both sides of the ball in Morgantown.
WVSports.com will have more with Sieg in the near future.
