West Virginia projects as big underdog vs Kansas in latest FPI

West Virginia heads into this weekend’s matchup at Kansas as a heavy underdog according to ESPN’s Football Power Index. The model gives the Jayhawks an 80.6 percent chance to win, compared to 19.4 percent for the Mountaineers.
This week’s matchup
The trip to Lawrence is one of WVU’s toughest tests yet, with Kansas holding the clear edge. But numbers don’t decide games, and the Mountaineers have already proven they can step up when it counts.
Remaining schedule snapshot
Looking ahead, the Mountaineers are favored in just one game the rest of the way, Colorado, where FPI gives them a 56.9 percent chance. Every other matchup leans toward the opponent, though several fall in the range where an upset is far from impossible.
