Iowa Interim Head Coach Brian Levin no longer with the program

Iowa softball announced on Friday, that interim head coach Brian Levin is no longer with the program. After head coach Renee Gillispie announced she would step away from coaching for the 2025 season due to a personal health matter, Levin took over the role.
“I am incredibly proud of the student-athletes and their commitment to focus on competing as Hawkeyes,” said Beth Goetz, Henry B. and Patricia B. Tippie Director of Athletics Chair via a statement from the school. “It is unfortunate we needed to make the change in leadership at this time, but providing an environment for our student-athletes to be their best academically and athletically remains our priority.”

Assistant coach Karl Gollan will act as head coach indefinitely. Former Hawkeye player and current softball operations assistant Sammy Diaz is also on the current coaching staff.
Iowa softball is currently 14-5 and on pace to surpass last season’s 18-game win total. Iowa’s only losses are to Tennessee, Texas Tech, Missouri and Arkansas. Iowa is currently in Tuscaloosa. The Hawkeyes already beat Louisiana and have a rematch with the Ragin’ Cajuns as well as a pair of games against Alabama.
