UNC picks up third transfer in ECU pitcher Kendall Frost

It’s already been a busy off-season for Megan Smith Lyon and the Tar Heels. North Carolina gained its third transfer commitment in right-handed pitcher Kendall Frost. The freshman led ECU with 166.1 innings. She had a 3.83 ERA with five saves.
North Carolina also added a pair of crosstown rivals in Carly Maxton and Michele Tarpey from NC State. Maxton had a breakout year, becoming the ace for the Wolfpack. She had a 3.91 ERA and a .250 batting average against over 134.1 innings during her sophomore season.

According to our friends at 64Analytics, Maxton and Frost had a 4.72 SIERA (Skill-Interactive Earned Run Average: A statistic that attempts to measure the underlying skill of a pitcher), which was in line with South Carolina’s Sam Gress and Clemson’s Brooke McCubbin.
Tarpey, a graduate transfer, led NC State with a .348 batting average. She has 21 doubles, 15 home runs and 70 RBI in her career.
