2024 NFL Draft: Cincinnati Bengals select Alabama WR Jermaine Burton
Alabama senior wide receiver Jermaine Burton was selected with the No. 80 overall pick (Round 3) in the 2024 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati on Friday. Burton was the sixth Crimson Tide player taken in this year’s draft and the second Alabama senior to come off the board.
Burton spent the last two seasons with the Crimson Tide after two years at Georgia. In his two seasons at Alabama, Burton played in 26 games and started 24 of them. The 6-foot, 194-pound wideout caught 72 passes for 1,338 yards and 14 touchdowns at Alabama, and in 2023, Burton was responsible for 39 receptions for 798 yards and eight touchdowns.
His 2023 totals were career-highs for the senior wide receiver, who finished first in the SEC and sixth in the nation with an average of 20.46 yards per catch. Burton’s eight scores were tied for No. 4 in the SEC, while his 798 yards were the ninth-most in the league. He also led the SEC and was ranked second nationally in receiving plays of 40 ore more yards (9).
Burton played in 23 games for Alabama over the last seasons after appearing in 24 games for the Bulldogs from 2020-21. During his four-year college career, the Calabasas, California native helped teams win two SEC championships and a national title at Georgia in 2021.
