Alabama guard Labaron Philon named SEC Player of the Week

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama men’s basketball guard Labaron Philon Jr. has been named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday morning.
The weekly accolade comes after Philon Jr. led Alabama to a pair of victories, including a win over No. 5/6 St. John’s on the road at Madison Square Garden. This is the first SEC Player of the Week honor for the sophomore, as the native of Mobile, Ala. was named SEC Freshman of the Week three times last season.

- Averaged 23.5 points, 5.5 assists and 3.0 rebounds in Alabama’s first two games against North Dakota and No. 5/6 St. John’s
- Scored a career-high 25 points on the road at No. 5/6 St. John’s
- Opened the season with 22 points, eight assists and three rebounds at home against North Dakota
- Ranks third in the SEC in scoring (23.5 ppg) and fourth in assists (5.5 apg)
- Ranks No. 26 in Division I in scoring
- A Preseason First Team All-SEC selection while being named to the NABC Player of the Year and Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Preseason Watch Lists
