One of the most coveted prospects in the Class of 2023 has narrowed his recruitment down to seven schools.

On Sunday, Lehigh Acres (Fla.) rising senior Richard Young released a new group of finalists. Among those that made the cut for him were Florida, Georgia, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, and Texas A&M.

The Alabama Crimson Tide, of course, also earned a spot on Young’s list.

Alabama is viewed, at this time, as the favorite to land a commitment from Young. Per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, the Crimson Tide are given a 54.1 percent chance to add Young to their 2023 class; Ohio State (26.6 percent) and Georgia (16.5 percent) have the second- and third-best odds, per the RPM.

Along with seemingly being in the lead for Young, Alabama will likely have a couple of things go in favor of their pursuit of him next week.

On Tuesday, four-star running back Mark Fletcher will announce his college decision. Ohio State is likely to land Fletcher, which could bode well for the Crimson Tide in their pursuit of Young; while the Buckeyes would have to sell Young on being a part of a two-running back class if Fletcher commits; Alabama will be able to pitch to him the possibility of Young being the sole player at his position in their class.

Also, on Saturday, Nick Saban’s staff will play host to Young during their April 16 A-Day Game. That will mark his second visit to Tuscaloosa this year.

Richard Young is the No. 1 RB on the 2023 On3 Consensus

Young is a highly regarded recruit amongst not only college programs, but recruiting media services as well. Per the 2023 On3 Consensus – a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average – Young is the top-ranked running back in his class.

He also checks in as the No. 23 overall prospect regardless of position and the fifth-ranked junior in Florida.

On3’s scouting report on Young had the following to say about the 5-foot-11, 199-pounder’s skill set.

“Physically-developed running back who emerged as a national name as a high school underclassman,” the report read. “Has a good combination of play speed and power. Has a muscular upper body with room to add mass in his lower half. Uses his leg drive to run through tackles at the second level. Shows well above average speed, which is validated by his track times.”

Speaking of track times, Young recently put forward an impressive display on the track this weekend. In this video, Young is seen running a 100-meter dash time in just 10.8 seconds.

Young has also established a strong presence on social media. As a result of his combined 30,000-plus followers on Instagram and Twitter, as well as other factors, Young currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $42,000.

The NIL Valuation is comprised of a number of dynamic data points that focus on two primary factors – an athlete’s social media presence and their level of athletic performance.
