Auburn point guard signee Tre Donaldson has been watching his future team on television win 19 straight games on its way to a No. 1 ranking.

Donaldson on Saturday will get to see them in person. That’s when Auburn hosts Texas A&M.

“I’ll be there,” Donaldson said. “It will be my first game this year. Me and my dad are coming up.”

Donaldson, from FSU School in Tallahassee, Fla., already has developed strong bonds with several players. He communicates regularly with the majority of the team.

“It’s hard for me not to watch K.D. (Johnson),” Donaldson said. “I talk with K.D. every other day. I talk to him, Al (Flanigan), CMo (Chris Moore) and Wyn (Wyndell Green).”

And when Donaldson watches the Tigers on television, he doesn’t watch for entertainment.

“I’m watching them and learning how to play the pick-and-roll and BP’s (Bruce Pearl’s) offense,” Donaldson said. “It’s fun to watch.”

Second signee Chance Westry also visiting Auburn

Donaldson won’t be the only signee in Auburn this weekend. Four-star shooting guard Chance Westry also will visit.

“Chance is coming, too,” Donaldson said. “We are going to stay together.”

Donaldson and Westry both signed in November and both plan to report to Auburn in May.

“It makes me feel good knowing that I’m going into the No. 1-ranked team in the country,” Donaldson said. “I can’t wait.”

Donaldson is the No. 125 overall recruit in the 2022 class, the No. 20 point guard and No. 17 in Florida, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally-weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Westry is the No. 32 overall recruit in 2022 and No. 2 shooting guard, according to the On3 Consensus.
