Auburn WR Malcolm Simmons arrested

Auburn sophomore wide receiver Malcolm Simmons has been arrested in Lee County.
Simmons, 20, is facing charges of domestic assault with strangulation or suffocation, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. He was booked at 6:20 p.m. CST Wednesday night, with a set bond of $20,000.
The former four-star wide receiver signed with Auburn out of Alexander City, Ala., as part of the Tigers’ 2024 class. In his freshman season, Simmons played a key role as a return specialist and as a receiver.
He recorded 451 yards receiving on 40 receptions with three touchdowns in his first season.
Simmons is the second Auburn player to be arrested this month, as former linebacker DJ Barber was arrested on drug trafficking charges July 7. Barber was dismissed from the team two days later.
