Miami at Clemson: How to watch, storylines to follow

CLEMSON — Miami has had a disappointing season under first-year head coach Mario Cristobal, but Clemson coach Dabo Swinney insists that the Hurricanes are a talented football team and can play with anybody in the country.

Miami is 5-5 (3-3) heading into Saturday’s game at No. 9 Clemson. On a positive note, they are coming off of a 35-14 win at Georgia Tech last weekend.

“Make no mistake, they’ve got some dudes, now,” Swinney said this week. “They can get off the bus with anybody. I promise you. They are long, they can run, they’re physical and an incredibly athletic group.”

Still, if Clemson plays well, it should be able to handle Miami.

The Tigers have a relatively easy end to the regular season with home games against Miami and South Carolina after a stretch that included contests against Florida State, Syracuse, Notre Dame and Louisville.

What to watch for

  • Former Tigers Athletics Director Dan Radakovich is making his return to Clemson as the AD at Miami. Radakovich spent 10 years at Clemson.
  • Clemson can clinch a 10-win season for the 12th consecutive year with a win Saturday. The Tigers would become one of three programs all-time to have a 10-win season for 12 consecutive years, joining Alabama and Florida State.
  • The Tigers are holding Senior Day on Saturday, even though the final home game will be the following weekend against South Carolina.
  • Clemson can clinch a perfect record in ACC play for the ninth time in program history with a victory.
  • The Tigers can win their 40th consecutive home game. Clemson has not lost a home game since 2016.
