Clemson star defensive lineman declares for NFL draft

Clemson star defensive lineman Bryan Bresee has declared for the NFL draft, he announced on Instagram Monday afternoon.
Bresee, who was previously the No. 1 overall recruit in the class of 2020, spent three seasons playing for the Tigers.
He is projected to be a first round pick in the upcoming NFL draft and could be selected in the top 10. ESPN’s Todd McShay currently projects Bresee to go No. 10 overall to the Cardinals.
“When I committed to play football for Clemson University, I never could have imagined how special this opportunity would be. The support I have received from the Clemson community the past three seasons has been amazing. I truly appreciate the experience,” Bresee said as part of a statement.
“It has been a lifelong dream of mine to play in the NFL. After much thought and many prayers, I would like to announce that I am declaring for the 2023 NFL draft. Although I’m excited for the next chapter in my football journey, I will always be a Clemson Tiger.”
Bresee appeared in nine games this season, making six starts in what was a difficult year on and off the field for him.
He finished with 14 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and 2 sacks this season.
Off the field, Bresee and his family suffered heartbreak as his sister, Ella Bresee, passed away due to cancer during the middle of the season.

Bresee also had a health scare of his own during the season, but he was able to return to action and played well down the stretch.
He had two tackles, including a sack, in Clemson’s Orange Bowl loss to Tennessee.
Bresee is one of several Clemson players who could leave for the NFL draft now that the 2022 season is over.
Defensive end Myles Murphy and linebacker Trenton Simpson have already announced that they are turning pro. Defensive end Justin Mascoll is returning to school.
Ruke Orhorhoro, Tyler Davis and Xavier Thomas are among the players who still have a decision to make.
