Linebacker EJ Lightsey de-commits from Florida

After a slew of de-commitments this week, another Florida commit has now parted ways with the program. Three-star linebacker E.J. Lightsey has de-committed from the Gators.
If you recently tuned in, GO reported that the 6-foot-1, 206-pound linebacker had not yet heard from the new staff.
Lightsey, a product of Fitzgerald, Georgia, committed to the Gators back in August after visiting Florida’s Friday Night Lights camp. Now the Georgia linebacker will be looking for a new place to play with Early Signing Day less than a week away.
In August, Lightsey chose the Florida Gators over programs like Georgia Bulldogs, LSU, Auburn, Georgia Tech and Florida State.
Earlier this week, four-star quarterback Nick Evers de-committed, followed by four-star wide receiver Jayden Gibson. Three-star defensive end Francois Nolton Jr. is no longer in the class as well.

With EJ Lightsey leaving the class, the Gators now have six commitments in their 2022 class. As GO mentioned, more decommitments could come shortly.
With plenty going, the Florida staff was recenetly out recruiting. One stop for the Gators staff was the prestigious IMG Academy, where Napier and Hocke saw several top targets in the 2022 and 2023 classes. Napier and his staff also made plans to meet with a four-star linebacker and an interior offensive line commit.
