Welcome to Good Morning Gators, where we cover the latest news, notes and analysis on Florida athletics. Join us each morning to get caught up on everything in the world of Florida football, UF recruiting, Gators basketball, Florida baseball and more.

The Gators returned to the practice field Tuesday after a week away for spring break, and new defensive coordinator Austin Armstrong was mic’d up in camp.

“Guys, start fast. Communicate,” Armstrong tells his unit. “Start the day the right way!”

An animated Armstrong is then shown celebrating two stops by his defense. On the second play, he takes a moment to help lift up running back Montrell Johnson Jr. before congratulating defensive linemen Desmond Watson and Chris McClellan on the tackle.

“Let’s go! Let’s go!” Armstrong says.

Florida players and coaches have emphasized the high energy from the 29-year-old Armstrong, and it’s evident in the short clip below.

He brings a lot of energy every day. I love Coach Armstrong,” said Gators safety Miguel Mitchell, who was recruited by Armstrong in high school. “He’s really aggressive. He calls aggressive. He’s gonna go after quarterback. I kind of like that.”

UF secondary coach Corey Raymond said of Armstrong, “He works hard, you feel me? He works hard, he does. He’s very highly enthusiastic. He gets into it, which is good. He’s got a lot of energy.”
