GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The postseason accolades continue rolling in for Florida offensive lineman O’Cyrus Torrence.

Thursday two Gators were named to the Associated Press All-SEC teams. Torrence was named to the first team, while left guard Ethan White was named to the second team offensive line.

Torrence, who started in 11 games this season, didn’t allow a sack or commit a penalty during his lone season in Gainesville. The Greensburg, Louisiana was selected as a preseason first-team All-SEC lineman, among being recognized as a preseason All-American by different outlets. He is the top offensive guard in the country, according to Pro Football Focus, leading the nation with an 88.2 grade.

How good was Florida’s O’Cyrus Torrence this year? He played in 355 pass blocking snaps and allowed zero sacks. He played in 698 total snaps and committed zero penalties. Torrence went his entire career (1,501 pass blocking snaps) and never allowed a sack. He committed just 12 penalties in 3,065 career snaps.

“He’s accepted a Senior Bowl invite, you know, he’s moved forward. He’s gotten really, you know, his grades. And I mean, this guy’s played probably, I don’t know, 3,000-plus snaps in his career, right? So, four years of good football,” Billy Napier said of Torrence. “Proven player and much like Ventrell, you know, been through been banged up at times. So, you know, very understandable and a guy that, you know, did a phenomenal job for us this year.”

White, a junior, earned his first career AP All-SEC honors after starting in all 12 Florida regular season games this season. The Clearwater, Florida native has started 19 games in his Gators career.

The Gators’ offensive line this season has paved the way as the program is third in the FBS with 5.8 yards per carry, rushing for 213.7 yards per game, on pace to be the 10th most in Florida history. Florida’s 29 rushing touchdowns this season is currently the fifth-most in program history.

A chance for Torrence to earn a brick

Florida honors All-Americans with a permanent brick outside of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. The last player to have their name etched on a brick was tight end, Kyle Pitts, following the 2020 season.

To earn a brick outside of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium you need to be named a First Team All-American by one of these five publications. The Football Writers of America, the Associated Press, the Walter Camp Foundation, AFCA, or Sporting News.

The Walter Camp Foundation is typically the first publication to announce its All-American lists.
