GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida offensive lineman Micah Mazzccua has deleted his tweet about transferring and is still with the program, Gators Online has learned.

Mazzccua, a transfer from Baylor, took to Twitter on Thursday night and said that he intended to enter the portal again after joining the UF football team in January.

“Appreciate coach [Billy] Napier and his staff but I feel it’s best for me to put myself back in the portal,” Micah Mazzccua posted on his account.

Mazzccua has now taken down his tweet, which he sent out without warning, according to program sources. He has since spoken with the Florida staff and is working through his issue, sources said.

The portal does not officially open until April 15 and will close on April 30. If Mazzccua had re-entered, he’s not a graduate student and would have to sit out the 2023 season due to NCAA transfer rules.

Micah Mazzccua on the field

The 6-foot-5, 329-pound Mazzccua started 10 games last season at left guard for Baylor. He allowed only one sack in 367 pass protection snaps in 2022 and was ranked No. 2 offensive guard in the Big 12 by Pro Football Focus.

Mazzccua has been working as one Florida’s starting guards in spring camp and made a strong first impression on offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Rob Sale.

“I like him. He got some freakin’ dog in him,” Sale said of Mazzccua. “I’d rather say ‘whoa’ then ‘go’, so give me guys like that. … He’s a little bit different than [O’Cyrus Torrence].

“Cybo’s like a big old teddy bear, but when he buckles that chin strap, you better hold on. Micah just comes in the building sometimes in the morning and just looks pissed off.”
