4-star RB Amari Thomas flips back to FSU from South Carolina

Although Florida State has endured a difficult stretch on the field this season, the Seminoles have enjoyed some wins in recruiting recently, and that run continued Thursday with some big news from a familiar name.
Four-star running back Amari Thomas has announced he has flipped his commitment back to FSU after flipping to South Carolina earlier this year.
Though Thomas announced his commitment on Friday, the Blountstown High standout actually made the decision earlier in the week.
“I told them last night,” Thomas told Warchant. “It’s no shame to South Carolina. It’s a good school. But this was just the decision I wanted to make. FSU has that rushing attack, Coach YAC (running backs coach David Johnson) sends a lot of backs to the league, and Coach [Mike] Norvell never gave up on me or the opportunity there. He’s got the people in the building that are going to give you respect every time.
“For me and the decision, there’s no better feeling than playing in your backyard. I’m excited and I’m not too far from my mom. She was excited, but whether I went to Canada, she was going to ride with me regardless.”

Thomas also expressed confidence in Florida State’s ability to turn around the program and his appreciation for the Seminoles’ running game.
“At the end, it’s the Seminoles,” Thomas said. “Ousmane [Kromah] is doing great, and Sam [Singleton] is really running the ball well. I’m looking forward to get to work. Excited about it.”
When Thomas committed to Florida State earlier, he said the Seminoles were his dream school.
“I feel like it’s right for me,” he said. “It’s close to home. I have support from my hometown, support from my family. I feel like it’s right — not just the football part but the academic part. I think it will be great for me. I want to succeed in helping turn the program around.”
Before his senior season started, Thomas transferred from Marianna to Blountstown, and he has enjoyed an outstanding year for the Tigers. He has rushed for over 1,500 yards and 18 touchdowns. He is also averaging 150 yards per game and over 14 yards per carry.
