Alford shares updated timeline for Doak renovations, FSU football facility construction
During his presentation to the FSU Board of Trustees on Thursday, athletics director Michael Alford shared the latest timeline on two major construction projects: The Seminoles’ new football-only facility and renovations to Doak Campbell Stadium.
The renovations to Doak, which include an overhaul of the west side of the stadium, renovated concourses and improved seating options, as well as new replay and ribbon boards, will be substantially completed by the end of July.
“Everything is running smooth,” Alford said.
According to Alford’s timeline, FSU is scheduled to receive its certificate of occupancy on July 29. That will leave the month of August for the installation of furniture in the premium seating areas and other finishing touches.
The Seminoles are scheduled to open the 2025 season at home against Alabama on Aug. 30.
The FSU Trustees also were provided with a series of benchmarks along the way to the completion of the project. Just this past week, for example, the air conditioning units became operational in the new Founder’s suites. Within two weeks, fixtures will be installed in all of the new restrooms, and water lines will be running throughout the stadium.

By July 21, the stadium’s new replay boards and ribbon boards will be installed and ready for programming, and all stadium seating is also expected to be installed.
The FSU football-only facility, meanwhile, is on track to be completed by Sept. 5, Alford said.
He said the building’s HVAC units were being turned on for the first time this week, and the players’ lockers are slated to be installed by June 23. The meeting rooms will be furnished by Aug. 15, and the resistance pool will be operational by Aug. 29.
Alford has previously said that FSU’s players will move in to the new facility during the Seminoles’ first bye week, which will be between home games against East Texas A&M on Sept. 6 and Kent State on Sept. 20.
