Florida State has been seeking linebacker help in the 2026 class, and the Seminoles are starting to see results. Three-star linebacker Noah LaVallee on Tuesday announced his commitment to FSU, joining his brother Caleb, who transferred in this offseason from North Carolina.

FSU was primarily competing with Ole Miss and Georgia Tech for the Walton High standout’s commitment, though the battle mainly came down to the Seminoles and Rebels.

Some on the Ole Miss side believed they held the edge due to established relationships after LaVallee’s multiple visits to Oxford. However, Florida State made a strong push, hosting LaVallee on campus several times this spring — including his official visit this past weekend.

From the beginning of the younger LaVallee’s recruitment, FSU made him a priority. The Seminoles were among the first programs to seriously pursue him, even during their efforts to bring in his brother Caleb through the transfer portal. That early and consistent relationship with the LaVallee family has clearly paid off.

The three-star linebacker also has said he loves how he would fit in Tony White’s Florida State defense.

“I fit in the middle of their defense (as a true Mike linebacker),” LaVallee said earlier. “So just playing as that fast linebacker that Coach White believes in. I’d be in the middle and play as fast and physical as I can. That’s how he (White) see’s me … They like how I play and what I can bring to the team as a strong, vocal leader. And just how I play fast and will fit right into their defense. I love how Coach White and Coach JP (John Papuchisrun that 3-3-5 defense. It will be a great fit.”

Michael’s analysis on new Florida State commit

While he’s a three-star prospect now, I think Florida State views him much higher and so does Ole Miss, which put a lot into that recruitment to try and snatch him away from the Seminoles. I do think having his brother Caleb LaVallee here in Tallahassee has helped, but it wasn’t the ultimate factor. He loves the vision White has for him in this defense, and he also really liked the personal relationships.

LaVallee is a very good tackler in space, and he’s a guy who seems to make impact plays, whether that’s causing fumbles or making stops behind the line of scrimmage. Florida State has been looking for those types of players at linebacker, and this seems like a perfect fit.
