BREAKING: FSU football tight end Randy Pittman out with an injury

In his final address to the media before the Seminoles’ second game of the season, FSU head coach Mike Norvell announced tight end Randy Pittman (undisclosed injury) will be out for Saturday’s game and likely some period of time afterwards.

“Randy Pittman will be out this week, probably here for the next couple,” Norvell said. “We’ll see what it all looks like. He was dealing with an injury there early in camp and was able to kind of manage that for the Alabama game.

“But he’ll be out for just — it’ll be a short period of time.”

FSU will look to tight ends Landen Thomas, Amaree Williams and Markeston Douglas while Pittman is unavailable.

Norvell praised Pittman for being able to work though the preseason injury and perform “at a high level” in Florida State’s season-opening 31-17 win over the Crimson Tide.

“He’s a really incredible competitor,” Norvell said. “You felt his physicality, had a couple of big catches there throughout, kind of putting us in position in two drives. … He’s not the biggest guy in the world but he sure plays like it.”
