Florida State moves back up to No. 4 in both major college football polls

After dropping in both major college football polls in recent weeks despite remaining undefeated, the Florida State football team has moved back up to No. 4 in the USA Today Coaches Poll and the AP Top 25, both of which were released Sunday afternoon.

The Seminoles, who cruised to a 39-17 victory Saturday against visiting Virginia Tech, moved up to No. 4 after dropping from No. 3 to No. 5 in recent weeks. Florida State is 5-0 on the season and has won 11 straight games dating back to last year.

Texas’ loss to Oklahoma played a major role in the Seminoles moving up; the Longhorns fell from No. 4 to No. 11 in the coaches’ poll following their 34-30 loss to the Sooners, and they dropped from No. 3 to No. 9 in the AP poll. Oklahoma, meanwhile, soared from No. 12 to No. 7 in both polls.

Florida State is one of four ACC teams ranked in the coaches’ rankings: North Carolina checks in at No. 12, Louisville is No. 15, and Duke is No. 18. In the AP poll, UNC is No. 12, Louisville is No. 14, Duke is No. 17, and Miami is No. 25.

FSU (5-0, 3-0 ACC) returns to action Saturday at home against Syracuse (4-2, 3-1), which was clobbered Saturday by North Carolina, 40-7. That game is scheduled for noon on ABC.
