Florida State trending to land Top 50 prospect in 2026 class

Florida State was red hot on the recruiting trail to finish out June. Now the football program is looking to start July with a bang.

Rivals vice president of recruiting Steve Wiltfong has put in an RPM pick in favor of Florida State to land 2026 four-star defensive linemen Earnest Rankins.

“Auburn was the chief competition but the buzz is around Tallahassee,” Wiltfong wrote. “Georgia was another program in the picture early in the year, but hasn’t been mentioned as much lately.”

The Decatur, Ga. product made his way to Florida State in the early days of official visit season on June 6th.

“It was an eye-opening visit for sure,” Rankins said. “It was great I got to see how the team, players work. Florida State is very high energy and I like that.”

According to On3, Rankins is the 47th best player in the country and fifth best defensive lineman. He would instantly become FSU’s highest-ranked recruit, even after the Seminoles landed many blue-chippers last month.

Florida State is also trending for another top-100 player in cornerback Chauncey Kennon. Wiltfong put in a pick for Kennon last month, and stated that the Seminoles continue to trend there as well.
